Dress Code
Academic Attire for Students
All LBUSD K-8 schools require that students follow a uniform clothes policy. Please read our guidelines so that you will be fully aware of what is and is not acceptable in student dress at Grant Elementary School. Students are expected to be dressed in the appropriate uniform daily. Grant's uniform policy will be strictly enforced!
Grant School Dress Code for Success Uniform Policy
This campus is Logo Free, except Grant Logo (Logo free means no words, symbols or pictures
except for those created by Grant School, including the WRAP Program.).
Head and Neck
● Sun-protective hats may be worn while outdoors but must be removed indoors (The Cancer
Society recommends hats with 2 to 3 inch brims all around.)
● All hats must be free of all logos and worn properly (forward)
● No head wraps except for religious purposes
● No makeup or spray-on hair colors
● No dangling earrings (stud-type only) –for your child’s safety.
Tops - no logos, graphics, Grant Logo only
● Solid white, light blue, red or dark blue collared shirts
● Collar or turtleneck – All shirts need to have a collar or turtleneck.
● No tank tops, straps, or T-shirts, except for Grant T-shirts.
● Shirts are to be tucked in or waist length. No oversized shirts.
● Grant shirts are always welcome.
● Plain white T-shirts are not part of the school uniform.
Bottoms – All bottoms must fit properly, no bags, sags or holes.
● All bottoms are free of graphics, words or design stripes.
● All bottoms are to be solid dark navy (cotton twill, corduroy, etc.)
● No warm up pants or joggers allowed
● Denim/jeans - solid dark blue, fit properly, free of words, pictures, stripes/designs.
● Long pants, Capri or pedal pushers
● Short pants – (one to four inches above the knee)
● Belt loops require belts
● Biking shorts or tights under skirts only
● Skirts – Solid dark navy – mid thigh to knee
● Jumpers - Solid dark navy
Outerwear – It is preferred that all outerwear be logo free.
Preferred Navy, Red or White sweaters, sweatshirts or jackets – logo free
Shoes - Closed toe
- Flat soles – less than 1 inch
- Shoes must cover the entire foot
- No sandals, crocs or any other open-toed or open heeled footwear may be worn
- High heels may not be worn
- Athletic shoes acceptable and encouraged
- Socks should be worn (regular, knee-high or tights)
- No open-heeled sport shoes/No Sport-Skate shoes
Footwear:
- Shoes must cover the entire foot
- No sandals, crocs or any other open-toed or open heeled footwear may be worn
- High heels may not be worn
Students not in compliance with the dress code may be subject to the following:
● Provided with loaner uniform and asked to change
● Parent contacted and change of clothing requested
